A blizzard on the Tibetan slopes of Mt Everest has resulted in one hiker's death from hypothermia and altitude sickness. Chinese officials reported that 137 stranded hikers have been rescued, with ongoing searches for others. Over 100 enthusiasts were in the Laohugou region during the national holidays when continuous snowfall caused the perilous situation.
