The superhero origin film, directed by Dominic Arun, is now poised to become the first Malayalam film in history to cross the Rs 300 crore mark through its theatrical collections alone. Lokah is produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.Lokah Chapter 1 continues its extraordinary run, performing exceptionally well across domestic markets as well as in the UAE and key European territories. The film’s total collection currently stands at Rs 299 crore, surpassing previous Malayalam blockbusters such as Manjummel Boys and Empuraan. It almost felt like a very, very expensive indie film. But the way it has just blown up, and everyone all over the country, across the world, is discussing it, is embracing it, it’s unprecedented. I have done 40-plus movies, and I have not experienced this as a hero in any of my films. So thank you. Thank you, wonderful audiences. And thank you, Telugu audiences, for accepting Lokah as your own film, the way you’ve accepted me. I’ve always felt like I belong here, and I feel like this film also belongs here.”Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra also features Naslen, Chandu Salim Kumar, and Sandy, with cameo appearances by Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan, who are set to lead the next installments. The film is the first in a planned three-part franchise inspired by mythical figures such as Yakshi, Chathan, and Odiyan.
