(Photo: The New York Times)US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that Israel has agreed to an “initial withdrawal line” in Gaza. But the Republican president added that militant group Hamas has not yet confirmed. If Hamas confirms Israel’s “initial withdrawal line”, the ceasefire will be effective “immediately” and the hostages and prisoner exchanges will begin. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas.” The US president further wrote, “we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE.”Trump had earlier warned Hamas that “all hell will break loose” if an agreement is not reached to release hostages and sign a ceasefire deal in Gaza by the end of Sunday.Israeli Prime Minister, while detailing about the plans, said on Saturday, “Our goal is to limit the negotiations to just a few days. Trump made it clear: We will not tolerate stalling tactics or evasions.”Detailing a multi-phase plan, Netanyahu said Hamas will first release the hostages while the Israeli military “maintains control of all of the dominant areas deep inside the strip.” Then “Hamas will be disarmed and Gaza will be demilitarized. This will happen either through the diplomatic path by the Trump plan or through the military path, but it will be achieved,” the Israeli prime minister conitnued. After Hamas reportedly hinted to release all the hostages, Trump called on Israel in a post on Truth Social to “immediately stop the bombing of Gaza”. “Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly! Right now, it’s far too dangerous to do that,” the US president wrote.AdvertisementTop story1Gaza Peace Plan Live Updates: After Hamas accepts some parts of deal, Trump warns ‘move quickly, or all bets are off’2Israeli airstrikes claim more lives in Gaza hours after Trump tells Israel to ‘immediately’ stop bombing3Indian tourists jailed, caned in Singapore for assaulting, robbing sex workers4US woman pleads ‘how much can I give you to stop?’ during NYC apartment rape, suspect arrested5Putin says Russia will import more agri, med products to offset India’s ‘losses’, calls Modi his ‘wise friend’AdvertisementLoading Taboola...SubscribeSign InJournalism of CourageTop CategoriesLATEST STORIESIsrael has agreed to ‘initial withdrawal line’ in Gaza, announces TrumpAs Ladakh groups pull out of talks, why Centre mulled safeguards under Article 371Delhi doctor’s murder case revived after Gurgaon BJP leader’s house theftWhat Made in India can look likeAs govt eases N-power restrictions, how India’s SMR ambitions will get private sector boostInside Track: Gilli Danda TacticsCounting generational wealthVeteran actor Sandhya Shantaram dies at 94Role of ‘organised criminal syndicate’ in Odisha sub-inspector recruitment test; Opposition demands CBI probeNews Today Live Updates, 5 October | Israel has agreed to ‘initial withdrawal line’ in Gaza, announces TrumpTrump plans to federalize 300 troops in Illinois, as judge blocks a similar mobilization in OregonThen and now: Posturing behind hands not shakenTavleen Singh writes: Why Sycophants cause more harm than goodP Chidambaram writes: Two wars that are blots on humanityIn UP’s Bahraich, villagers cry wolf – only, the fear is realBack as Haryana LoP, why Hooda faces an uphill task amid heat from Congress, BJP rivals
