Michael Strahan suffers injury live on air in hilarious Fox Sports broadcast fail

Wait 5 sec.

Michael Strahan probably thought his days of football injuries were behind him, but Julian Edelman had other ideas. The Fox NFL broadcasting team, comprised of Strahan, Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Jay Glazer, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Curt Menefee, was performing a special teams demonstration on set.Disaster struck for Strahan as he was clocked in the face by a flying football Edelman had kickedX/ @NFLonFOXEdelman – a former NFL wide receiver who played on special teams during his 11-year career with the New England Patriots – was elected as the kicker for the demo. With Glazer acting the role of the guard, and all-time great tight end Gronkowski acting as the blocker, a sock-less Edelman kicked the football so tamely that it lacked flight. With the ‘defenders’ in 6-foot-5 Strahan and Long bearing down on the kicker, the ball only went as high as the former defensive end’s head. It clocked him right in the face and saw him keel over as he took a second to compose himself. With the kick still technically being ‘blocked’, a cry of “mission accomplished” rang out before Glazer stated that he needed to go into “concussion protocol.”Strahan was asked whether he had lost a tooth, but he admitted that the football clocked him “in the eyeball” as the crew laughed about the situation. Fans flooded to social media to comment on the Hall of Famer’s unfortunate injury. “Michael Strahan just blocked a field goal attempt on NFL live, with his face,” one fan posted to X (formerly Twitter). “That is a riot,” a second wrote. “ Edelman out here running full speed like it’s 2016 again, Strahan didn’t sign up for live reps on Good Morning America! ” a third user commented. Much like Edelman, Strahan spent his entire NFL career with one team – the New York Giants. Playing 15 years for the G-Men, Strahan was a six-time All Pro, the recipient of the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2001, a two-time NFL sacks leader with 141.5 total, and was part of the Giants’ Super Bowl XLII-winning team in 2008.Edelman showcased why he wasn’t a kicker when playing on special teams in his career after being deployed as a punt returner. However, his primary position was playing wide receiver and catching footballs from arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady, with the pair winning three Super Bowl rings together, with Edelman named Super Bowl LIII MVP when the Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3.
