Four Detained As Police Seize €600,000 Worth Of Cocaine

Two Maltese men and two Italians were arrested on 3rd March in connection with the alleged importation of 12 kilograms of suspected cocaine from Sicily into Malta. The street value of the drugs is estimated at around €600,000.According to information gathered by the Police, the two Italians- a 49-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman- were expected to arrive in Malta by vehicle on a catamaran from Sicily. After disembarking, police followed them to Gudja, where they met the two Maltese men, both aged 26.It was at this location that police intercepted the vehicle and arresting all four individuals. A search of the car confirmed police intelligence, and the drugs were found hidden in a compartment.Following the seizure, Magistrate Franco Agius was informed and appointed an inquiry. The four suspects remain in custody at the Floriana police lock-up.They are expected to be brought before the court today at approximately 1.30pm before Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech•
