Calypso Radio 101.8 will be hosting a 24-hour broadcast marathon this weekend to collect food supplies for the Valletta Soup Kitchen.The special initiative aims to support the work of the soup kitchen, which provides essential services for people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Malta.The marathon will kick off this Saturday at 5pm and continue through Sunday, with live presenters, special guests and stories highlighting the work carried out by the Valletta Soup Kitchen.Led by Fr. Marcellino Micallef, the soup kitchen provides daily meals and shower facilities for around 100 people, while also offering access to social work, dental care and legal support.Calypso Radio said the event is intended to use its platform to help support the organisation and encourage the public to contribute.“The Soup Kitchen in Valletta provides an essential lifeline for many in our community,” the team said. “We believe it is our responsibility to use our platform to highlight this cause and mobilise our listeners to make a tangible difference.”Throughout the broadcast, listeners will be encouraged to donate non-perishable food items by dropping them off at the Calypso Radio studios.Items being collected include pasta, rice, canned goods, long-life milk, cooking oil, breakfast cereals and tea or coffee.Updates on the collection will be shared throughout the 24-hour marathon as organisers encourage the public to support Fr.
