A 21-year-old man has been jailed for two years after injuring two Transport Malta officials through reckless driving while he was out on bail.Stoyan Gafà, from Marsascala, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes in a reckless, negligent and dangerous manner. He also admitted to driving without insurance, driving under the influence, injuring the officials, damaging three other vehicles and breaching two sets of bail conditions as reported by Times of Malta.The incident happened at around midnight between 10th and 11th February at the Santa Luċija tunnel.Two Transport Malta officials were supervising traffic in the area when Gafà crashed into their vehicle.One of the officials suffered grievous injuries while the other sustained slight injuries.Gafà is also separately facing criminal charges in connection with other cases. These include charges over the death of a motorcyclist on Christmas Eve, as well as another reckless driving incident in December that left a person grievously injured.Magistrate Monica Vella presided over the case.Police inspectors Clive Abela and Nathan Bugeja prosecuted, while legal aid lawyer Nadya Fiott assisted the accused.•
