When law enforcement arrived, they found Serenity and Victor dead in the vehicle from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities believe Victor and Serenity died sometime on Feb. 28 or early on March 1. “From what it looks like, they were trying to flee based on the tracks on the road and the mud on the side of the van,” Victor’s son and Serenity’s brother, Jessie Waterman, told the press. According to Waterman, 15, Victor, and Serenity may have attempted to drive away before losing control of the vehicle and ending up off the road in the remote area based on tire tracks and mud splatter on the van. One neighbor said, quote, ‘It’s got houses up that end and houses on the other end, but very few in between.'” “You pretty much have to live around here to know about this road,” Thibodeau said. Reportedly, Victor and Serenity were electricians who worked in the Memphis area. Victor’s son called his father “a funny man” and a “good father,” and said he was “two peas in a pod” with his sister, according to LocalMemphis.com. Victor’s son commented on Thibodeau’s post about the case, “I just wanna say thank u for speaking out about my family, I’m the son who spoke to the news and I’m speaking out again with other news and I’m doing anything I can.” The Panola County Sheriff’s Office is leading the double-homicide investigation into Victor and Serenity’s deaths. Law enforcement has not so far commented on the motive, or many persons of interest or suspects in the case. So far, law enforcement has only officially confirmed the apparent gunshot wounds and the crash. Thibodeau speculated, “So either whoever did this to this father and daughter lives in this area, or they just happen to be chasing them in this area. Authorities are now turning to the public for help,” urging neighbors to check their dash cam or doorbell security cameras for evidence.
