Right, like if you have money to spare to feed someone, you’d rather donate it to a charity that will feed starving children instead of getting an iced cake for some random person. That’s where the difference is — where it’s just “I need food to live”, a natural inclination to help those closest around you is understandable. Where it’s “I want to eat these nice things”, suddenly that’s no longer justified where that money could be going to help actual starving people elsewhere.
