The ever-popular Marvel Rivals is building up to Avengers: Doomsday throughout 2026, starting with a Loki-centered limited-time mode in April. At the Marvel Rivals Assemble in-person event, the development team unveiled the game's next roadmap, which is pretty much just an image of every MCU Avengers movie logo.In April, June, August, and October, Marvel Rivals will feature "special events" and new modes tying in with the films The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, respectively. The April event is a 1v6 asymmetrical mode, where one player controls an Infinity Stone-powered Loki and fights six other heroes.The Path to Doomsday begins! The opposing heroes also have the opportunity to recreate scenes from the movie itself by summoning the Hulk.These tie-ins culminate in December, with new modes and events marking Avengers: Doomsday's arrival in theaters. With the heavy Avengers tie-ins, fans are already crossing their fingers that Thanos and Doctor Doom will join the Marvel Rivals roster by the end of the year. Another Avengers nemesis, Ultron, entered the fray back in Season 2.Marvel Rivals studio NetEase Games also teased that the new heroes for Season 7, due to begin this month, are "a thief and an agent [who] are teaming up in New York for an impossible mission," leading fans to speculate that Black Cat and White Fox are the game's next newcomers.Releasing in December 2024, Marvel Rivals had an overall solid first year. The multiplayer title is now contending with a revitalized Overwatch, which had a massive update at the beginning of 2026, setting up a big year for hero shooters.
