We arrived on Thursday and nothing untoward regarding anything.“On Saturday, I went to a rugby competition and then we got back to the villa and we started hearing repeated dull thuds. “We didn’t know what they were, we thought it might be some building… but we realised that it was interceptions of missiles.“They were going on up above us and the only thing we could really hear was a very minor thud and puffs of smoke in the sky.“So, we initially had them happening fairly frequently, so for the first two to three hours, we were obviously anxious. “We were told by local authorities to move inside, stay away from windows, so that initial anxiety of not knowing what was going on wasn’t nice and the kids were obviously anxious.”The conflict has entered its sixth day and many Brits are still unable to travel homeAFPMartin is one of those stuck and he has heard missiles being intercepted above himGetty‘We all feel very safe’Despite admitting his family’s understandable nerves at the start of the conflict, Martin gave a positive update on their mentality.“We all feel very safe here,” he later said on talkSPORT Breakfast.“The defence mechanism that’s in place from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, we feel very sure and confident that it’s doing its job.“So, this sort of occurrence, as tragic and as massive as it is, I think it will take time to configure itself.“One thing I will say is the advice we’ve had from the local authorities and the defence we feel is in place here is very assured.”Martin and his family are thankfully okay, while many other sporting stars are among those to have been stranded.Martin (left) is safe in Abu Dhabi, while other stars are also strandedGettySports stars strandedEngland cricketer Jonny Bairstow asked for help on social media as he was stuck due to the conflict while on holiday with his family.
