I have lived most of my adult life in Colombia and I don't think I know a single Colombian that owns a toaster. I don't even think I've ever seen one in the stores (to be fair I never went out of my way to look for one either). I just toast my bread in a skillet on the stovetop. Low heat and brown to desired toastiness. Air fryer also works. Either of those takes a lot less time and effort that running over to a neighbor's with a loaf of bread would.
