In July 2025, Samsung and Tesla signed a $16.5 billion deal under which the South Korean tech giant would manufacture the American firm's AI6 chips. Now, a new report suggests that Tesla has asked Samsung to produce even more of those chips.On X, Jukan claims that the original deal between the two companies was for the production of 16,000 wafers per month. Tesla has now reportedly requested an additional 24,000 wafers, bringing the total to 40,000 wafers per month for its AI6 chips.Samsung will manufacture these chips at its semiconductor facility in Taylor, Texas. The agreement spans eight years, and based on that, analysts previously estimated that it could generate around KRW 2–3 trillion in annual revenue for Samsung.With Tesla reportedly increasing its chip orders, the overall contract value could rise as well. That would translate into higher revenue—and potentially higher profits—for Samsung. It is also worth noting that Samsung already manufactures Tesla’s AI4 and AI5 chips.
