‘Jurassic World’ Animated Series Could Be Getting Live-Action Movie, Rumor Suggests

Wait 5 sec.

Last year, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 4 marked the end of the animated side of the franchise — for now. But is a live-action adaptation of the series quietly in the works?A follow-up to the animated show, Camp Cretaceous, which was set mostly on Isla Nublar, Chaos Theory reintroduces the young teenage characters, collectively dubbed the “Nublar Six,” as they attempt to thwart dangerous and illegal dinosaur trafficking around the world.Credit: Universal Pictures / DreamWorks Animation / Amblin Entertainment / NetflixWhile previous seasons (Camp Cretaceous included) slotted in between Jurassic World (2015) and Fallen Kingdom (2018), Season 4 takes place against the backdrop of Dominion (2022) — although its leads only ever cross paths with secondary characters from the films. However, we may yet see the likes of Darius, Kenji, Yaz, Sammy, and Brooklynn return — but not in animated form.Credit: Universal Pictures / DreamWorks Animation / Amblin Entertainment / NetflixRelated: All 17 ‘Jurassic Park’ Kids Ranked From Worst To BestAnother Jurassic World Movie in the WorksLast year, there were reports that another Jurassic World Rebirth movie was in development, hardly surprising considering the latest film grossed $869.1 million worldwide last summer. Early rumors suggests that director Gareth Edwards and stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey are all in negotiations to return. Most recently, Film Base, a website that features entertainment industry updates and information on productions starting in the UK, shared notes from one of its webinars, which detailed several “big tent-pole movies” heading to the UK this year, including none other than “the next Jurassic”, a project that’s “said to be starting in March.”Credit: Inside the MagicPotential Title RevealedWhile Universal Pictures hasn’t confirmed anything, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill. Adding fuel to the fire that another film is in the works was the reveal that the domain name jurassicworldliberation.com had been registered by an unknown source, with the URL rerouting users directly to the official Jurassic World website. The name of that domain? Jurassic World Liberation.Of course, there’s every chance this means nothing. Or, if it has been registered by Universal, it might not even be related to a film — it could be another Jurassic project altogether. With that said, one curious aspect of the domain name is the word “Liberation”. The only other place in the franchise it pops up is in Chaos Theory, in the form of the Dinosaur Liberation Now introduced in Season 2.Credit: Universal Pictures / DreamWorks Animation / Amblin Entertainment / NetflixChaos Theory Could Return in a New FormThe Dinosaur Liberation Now (abbreviated to DLN) is a non-profit vigilante group focused on releasing dinosaurs from captivity by the hands of humans around the world. Could Jurassic World Liberation refer to a Chaos Theory spinoff of some kind?It could be the name of the next animated entry, or even a live-action project, whether that’s a spinoff film or a television series. We’ll just have to hold onto our butts until we find out.Chaos Theory stars Paul-Mikél Williams as Darius Bowman, Darren Barnet as Kenji Kon (who was previously portrayed by Ryan Potter), Sean Giambrone as Ben Pincus, Kausar Mohammed as Yasmina “Yaz” Fadoula, Raini Rodriguez as Sammy Gutierrez, and Kiersten Kelly as Brooklynn (who was voiced by Jenna Ortega in Camp Cretaceous seasons 1 — 5).Chaos Theory seasons 1-4, along with all five seasons of Camp Cretaceous, are streaming on on Netflix.Would you like to see Chaos Theory get the live-action treatment?
