Ben Stiller Posts "GTA," But It's Not About GTA 6

Wait 5 sec.

Actor Ben Stiller sent some people into a tizzy recently after he posted "GTA" on social media, with some theorizing it has to do with Grand Theft Auto VI or the franchise in general. That's not the case, though. Stiller is a huge fan of the New York Knicks, and his "GTA" post was no doubt in reference to Knicks point guard Jose Alvarado, and a defensive play he is particularly famous for. For him, it's an acronym for "Grand Theft Alvarado." In last night's game, Alvarado had a steal, which no doubt encouraged Stiller to head to his keyboard and post what he posted. Alvarado had only 4 points in the Knicks' 111-95 win over the Toronto Raptors on March 3, but he made some nice plays, which is what Stiller was posting about. Stiller posts a lot during Knicks games, as evidenced by the waterfall of messages on his page for any given Knicks game.A lot of famous people over the years have been featured in GTA games, and Stiller's "GTA" post might have fueled some speculation that he could appear in GTA 6. Stiller's GTA post was not about video games, but he has said he believes his TV show Severance would be a good candidate for a game. He said it would be "great to have a Severance video game." One of the show's stars, Adam Scott, concurred. "I think it lends itself to one," he said.Stiller is also connected to video games by way of appearing as Kratos in an ad for God of War Ragnarok back in 2022.As for GTA 6, the long-awaited open-world crime game launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It was reported recently that ID tags for the game have appeared on the PlayStation Store's database, suggesting preorders may open soon.
