Players have discovered the dumbest thing about Resident Evil Requiem to complain about

Wait 5 sec.

If Metacritic's user ratings are anything to go by, Resident Evil Requiem is the second-most beloved game ever. Still, savvy eagle-eyed detractors have found a mistake that might expose Resident Evil Requiem for what it really is: a bad cloth physics simulator. On March 13, Twitter user @de3dsoul posted a video of Grace in RE9 interacting with some curtains that deform in a less realistic way than their counterpart in Red Dead Redemption 2, a game from 2018.https://twitter.com/de3dsoul/status/2032595812803350630?s=20Maybe de3dsoul's objective was merely to point out that Red Dead Redemption 2's attention to detail remains astounding, but this is the Internet, so the whole thing quickly devolved into thousands of people wondering just what exactly had gone wrong with Requiem. Image via CapcomWhy are the devs behind the game that allowed for screenshots like the one above so "lazy?"Those curtains exist to give an extra layer of realism and visual flair to that room, but they play no part in the overall game. The fact that they exist at all is a plus that players should welcome or just leave be. Developers and artists had to work hard to put that into a game that didn't need them. Complaining so loudly about an aspect not being perfect will, at best, raise the odds that nobody bothers with including similar physics in the game next time. That's an actual possibility. Many AAA games just feature no such physics, and Internet critics handle their absence better than a developer's attempt at something that merely falls somewhat short of what a more expensive game that took way longer to develop had achieved. Now, if Resident Evil 9 were a game about fighting the classic ghost whose body is composed entirely of bedsheets, I'd totally want Capcom to go all in on the ghost's cloth physics. Still, aside from aliens, that's about the only kind of horror monster we still haven't fought in modern Resident Evil games. Some have pointed out the obvious, like how Rockstar puts out a game once every decade, whereas the new Capcom has been delivering varied bangers every year, not to mention a Resident Evil title every two years. And that's the more level-headed opinion, as some others have gone straight into hot take territory, responding to the tweet with "Crazy how RE9 is 10x more fun that [sic!] RDR2 to play."And, despite finding the incredible amount of detail put into every aspect of Red Dead Redemption 2, I must agree. The post Players have discovered the dumbest thing about Resident Evil Requiem to complain about appeared first on Destructoid.
