Solid general advice, but we're not particularly tight on money, and we got a modest rebate from the rescue after confirmation that we had her fixed. We just opted to have it done at the same vet we have all of our pets visit. Nbd. It was kind of just the principle of the insurance not covering anything at all. Like even if it just did the tick/heart worm prevention, that would be great. Others pointed out that maybe we didn't opt for preventative care...I don't have the plan in front of me, because it was a few years back now, but from a business perspective (and how insurance works for humans) the cheapest plans (which I don't think we got) primarily covers preventative. A cheap plan isn't going to cover diabetes or cancer, right? If you're not covering preventative care, what are they even doing?
