Two-time Pro Bowler named Seattle Seahawks most underpaid player

Wait 5 sec.

Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba has had an amazing start to his NFL career.Over his first three years in the league, Smith-Njigba was named to two Pro Bowls and received one First-team All Pro nod. Last season, he led the entire league in receiving yards, was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and helped the Seahawks win the second Super Bowl in franchise history. He did all of this while playing at a [very] reasonable rate on his rookie deal. As a result, he was recently named Seattle's most underpaid player by Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report. From Gagnon: "Duh. JSN put up an NFL-best 1,793 receiving yards while earning first-team All-Pro honors as a 23-year-old in 2025. This'll be his last cheap year, so the Seahawks have to savor the fact one of the best offensive weapons in the game will cost just $4.6 million as the 48th-highest-paid wideout in the league."It's tough to disagree here. Given Smith-Njigba's production compared to his salary, he's probably one of the best bargains in the entire NFL at this point in time. That won't be the case for too long though. Smith-Njigba is now extension eligible with the Seahawks and the star receiver is expected to receive a major pay dump whenever he puts pen to paper on a new deal. According to Spotrac, an extension for Smith-Njigba could come in at nearly $38 million per year. If he signs a deal like that, he'll never be considered "underpaid" again. More NFL news: Updated Minnesota Vikings QB depth chart after Carson Wentz signingJerry Jones won't rule out a Maxx Crosby trade for CowboysTrey Hendrickson breaks silence on leaving Bengals for Ravens in free agencyCommanders bringing back familiar face to serve as Jayden Daniels insuranceTravis Kelce makes final decision regarding retirement, NFL future
