Depends on the laws of their jurisdiction. Where I live, the lease automatically continues as month-to-month after the first year. No matter, these type of people are concerned with niceties and legalities; details and facts just get in the way of the grift. They don't want anyone to point out that they could have made different decisions had they been better informed. They don't want viable options, they just want your money, the sooner the better.
