The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 2.9 quake in the United Kingdom near Akrotiri, GB.05, only 23 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday, March 23rd, 2026, at 6:10 am local time at a shallow depth of 22.20 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.Our monitoring service identified a second report from the Kandilli Oservatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Istanbul (KOERI-RETMC) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.9 as well. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 2.9.According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage.
