A couple of years ago, Samsung introduced the Home-to-Car feature that allowed you to control and monitor select Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai and Kia) vehicles from your homes. Now, the company has expanded that integration by enabling you to control SmartThings-compatible smart home devices from select Hyundai and Kia cars.With Samsung’s new Car-to-Home feature, you can remotely control SmartThings-compatible devices such as air conditioners, air purifiers, robot vacuums, and lights through the infotainment system in Hyundai and Kia vehicles equipped with Hyundai BlueLink or Kia Connect services. You can connect your vehicle to your SmartThings account by scanning a QR code displayed on the infotainment screen. It will be rolled out through a software update.In addition to controlling smart home devices, you can create SmartThings Routines based on your car’s location. For example, a Routine can automatically turn on an air conditioner, air purifier, and lights at your home as the car approaches. With the “Away Mode” feature, you can set your home’s lights to turn off when you leave in your car.The Hyundai Motor Group, being a South Korean firm, has a close working relationship with Samsung. It buys Exynos chips, camera sensors, and batteries from Samsung Group.
