Sure, I get your point overall...but what are the odds of people just waiting to give away things like a shed, 18k BTU air conditioner, free-standing kitchen island or a frame for a California king bed? These are things that cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars. If someone is looking to get rid of them, they will most likely want to sell them, not hand them over for free to a total stranger. And things like paint? That too is pretty expensive. Depending on type and brand, a single gallon can run you $20-$50 or more. If someone has some left over, it's likely to be just a can or two, probably already opened and partially used.
