Am Iranian cluster munition attack caused widespread damage across residential areas in central Israel.By World Israel News StaffA married couple in their 70s were killed overnight Tuesday when an Iranian bomb directly struck their home in the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan.An initial investigation found that a cluster munition impacted the roof of their four-story apartment building. Five additional residents were wounded in the attack.First responders said the couple’s bodies were found next to their apartment’s bomb shelter, suggesting they had tried to reach safety but failed to make it in time.Chen Amir, who lives in the same building on a lower floor, described the moment of impact and its immediate aftermath in an interview with Hebrew-language outlet Walla.“We heard the siren and my wife and I went into the bomb shelter. After a minute we heard a serious ‘boom,'” Amir recounted.“After two minutes I opened the [bomb shelter] door,” he said, noting that his apartment was filled with “thick smoke and a burning smell.”Amir said he saw the slain couple’s apartment after the strike and described extensive damage. The apartment “had a hole in the middle of the living room” ceiling, Amir said.“They have a bomb shelter, but they didn’t have time to get there. We were in the bomb shelter, that’s what saved us,” he added. There were approximately 20 other sites throughout central Israel where damage was reported, after munitions from the missile spread over a wide area. The slain couple have not yet been publicly identified by name in Hebrew-language media.Damage was also reported at the nearby Savidor Merkaz train station, forcing its temporary closure. In a statement, Israel Railways said teams were working around the clock to reopen the station as soon as possible and that charter buses had been commissioned to assist commuters. The post Iranian missile strike in Ramat Gan kills 2, wounds 5 appeared first on World Israel News.
