Brooke Malcher, a 29-year-old mom, recently took to TikTok to share a brilliant, somewhat bizarre discovery. Home Depot is apparently the ultimate haven for keeping her 15-month-old son, Grayson, calm and entertained. You know how it is when you’re desperate for a way to occupy a curious toddler, and Brooke’s solution has parents everywhere buzzing. Brooke found herself needing to get out of the house early one morning. According to People Magazine, that’s when Home Depot popped into her head. “I had a feeling he would love it because he loves to open cabinets, press buttons, and touch everything he’s not supposed to at home,” she said. “When I thought about Home Depot, I knew it was the perfect place to keep him entertained!” Her hunch paid off big time. Grayson had a blast playing with the washing machines and dishwashers, meticulously opening every cabinet door he could find, and even checking out the patio furniture. Brooke mentioned his favorite spots were definitely the kitchen appliance area, where he “had the best time looking at every dishwasher and opening every cabinet,” and the carpet section. “He touched every sample!” she added. When you think about it, with supervision, it is a giant, interactive playground Brooke initially started recording Grayson’s adventure just to show her husband how much fun their little boy was having and then put together a “quick TikTok because I thought it would be cute.” The now-viral video, captioned “Home Depot saving us when we are bored and it’s too hot to go outside ,” featured a simple, yet profound, on-screen reminder: “Toddlers love Home Depot for some reason. It also opens at 6am.” The comments section of her video quickly filled with other parents celebrating her “genius idea.” One person wrote, “All I see is sensory play good job! ,” perfectly capturing the essence of the outing. Another user chimed in, saying, “Great sensory play, exploration of daily objects, without the chaos of most kid targeted area.” Someone even joked, calling it “Montessori on a budget,” which is spot on. @mombrainbrooke Home Depot saving us when we are bored and it’s too hot to go outside ♬ original sound – Beyond the free-range exploration, some users also reminded everyone that Home Depot actually offers free workshops for kids on the first Saturday of every month. Brooke admits she definitely “did not expect it to blow up the way it did!” but she’s enjoying the community aspect of it. “It’s been nice to see all the comments about other moms sharing tips and relating to this phase of motherhood,” she reflected. Home Depot has been the site for many viral videos, especially with its generous return policy for plants. Of course, they have also had their customers who go viral for entitlement. This, however, might be the cutest viral video. It just goes to show you that sometimes the most unexpected places can be the best spots for a little adventure with your kids.
