‘We need America First’: MAGA split widens as Lauren Boebert confirms she’ll vote NO to $200bn Iran war funding

Wait 5 sec.

MAGA is being torn apart by Donald Trump’s war with Iran. For years, they’d been in lockstep with Trump over his firm “America First” stance, which simply states that the USA must take care of its own problems before worrying about the rest of the world. That means a priority on domestic government spending, fighting for the rights of American citizens, and, very importantly, “no new wars!” Trump beat that drum throughout all three of his presidential campaigns, making a point to distinguish himself from the war-crazed neocons who dragged the nation into pointless and costly wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. But, as with literally every promise that Trump makes, it’s now been broken. “No new wars”? Oh, wait, that was just a typo. It should have actually read “No, new wars!”. Former MAGA stalwarts like Marjorie Taylor-Greene have been busily calling out Trump’s war, but now they’ve been joined by similarly passionate America First-er Lauren Boebert. When asked whether she’d vote for Pete Hegseth’s insane $200 billion “war supplemental,” she didn’t mince her words: GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert says she’ll vote NO on $200 billion in funding for the Iran war:"I’m tired of the industrial war complex getting all our hard-earned tax dollars. We need America First policies.”Reporter: Should the administration get out of Iran?Boebert: That's up… pic.twitter.com/xcN7UgkG2S— Republicans against Trump (@RpsAgainstTrump) March 20, 2026 “I will NOT vote for a war supplemental. No. No. I have already told leadership I am a “no” on any war supplementals. I am so tired of spending money elsewhere. I am tired of the industrial war complex getting all of our hard-earned tax dollars. I have folks in Colorado who can’t afford to live!” “I am tired of the industrial war complex” Boebert also indicated she thinks this war is going to destroy the GOP’s chances in the midterms, saying: “We’ve got to get our act together if we want to keep this majority, and the path that we’re going doesn’t look very promising.” You can say that again, Boebert. Current projections put the Democrats comfortably taking the House and the Senate, making Trump a lame duck president overnight. It should also be noted that these polls don’t take into account the near-universal agreement that gas prices are about to skyrocket as a direct consequence of Trump’s war. After all, even the most stalwart red-cap wearing MAGA minion may find their enthusiasm for Trump diminishing after hour three of waiting in line to fill up their vehicle for grotesquely overpriced gasoline, or trudging down the highway to work after they simply cannot afford to put gas in the tank.
