Former UFC fighter Lorenz Larkin has been added to the blockbuster Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano event. The huge MMA night of action on May 18, promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, is already to feature some of MMA’s biggest names.Larkin, a former UFC veteran, will step into the cage again under the MVP banner on the huge eventGettyFrancis Ngannou will make his return on the night, with Nate Diaz and Mike Perry also set to duel on the card. And another prominent name in UFC‘s past has been made a part of the bill, with former welterweight Larkin to make his MMA return. He will take on former Bellator champion Jackson, who last fought to a defeat in a PFL tournament last year. The bout is set to be added to the event with an announcement expected imminently according to MMA journalist Alex Behunin.Larkin hasn’t fought in the cage since his own appearance in MMA in 2024 but he has fought twice in Karate Combat.During his prime years, the American was a feared KO artist particularly during his stint in Bellator. But he also had some good success in the UFC, where he beat the likes of Jorge Masvidal and Neil Magny during his three-year stint with Dana White‘s promotion.Jackson is still dangerous however and it promises to be a well-matched event, with Paul looking to continue to feature prominent MMA stars.Jake Paul’s dig at UFC as he grows first MMA eventPaul is building an event full of huge commercial profiles, which is expected to have huge audience interest given it will be streamed on Netflix. It is the American’s first major venture into MMA, having criticised the UFC and White’s model for so long.Paul is looking to build the biggest events possible and has started brightlyGettyAnd he believes now is a great time to capitalise and take on MMA’s premier promotion with his own plan.He said: “MMA is in a weird position right now.“It’s the wild west and I believe we have a massive opportunity here to disrupt the whole space and to put fighters first, get them the pay that they deserve, the platform that they deserve, because I believe the UFC is dying and MVP is here to take over.“I think it’s been tough for them to create stars and the fights that they want for how little they’re willing to spend.“So they’re kind of at a bottleneck and that’s why I think we’ve seen fights that people aren’t super, super excited about and the biggest stars in the sport like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor [not] fighting on a consistent basis. “And that was what made them so great in the beginning of their business: just massive, amazing fights all the time. And now they’re just not willing to spend money.”Paul is certainly here to make a splash again, just as he has done in his boxing career where he has fought big names including Anthony Joshua despite falling to defeat.
