Universal has delighted guests with the opening of two Harry Potter attractions.Universal’s relationship with Harry Potter dates back more than a decade, beginning with a single, ambitious expansion that reshaped the theme park industry. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade opened at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in 2010, bringing Hogwarts Castle – which houses Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey – and a fully realized wizarding world to life with unprecedented detail.Credit: UniversalThe land proved an immediate hit, arguably changing the theme park game for good. Unsurprisingly, Universal was quick to expand the concept. In 2014, Diagon Alley opened at Universal Studios Florida, connected to Hogsmeade via the Hogwarts Express, effectively turning the resort into a multi-park, story-driven experience. What began as a single land has since grown into a global franchise. Versions of the Wizarding World have opened in Japan, Hollywood, and Beijing, each recreating familiar locations like Hogsmeade while introducing subtle regional differences. That evolution reached a new milestone in 2025 with the debut of Universal’s Epic Universe, which introduced a third Orlando-based land: the Ministry of Magic. The new area blends settings from both the original films and the axed Fantastic Beasts spinoff series, marking the most expansive and technologically ambitious iteration yet.Despite sharing core iconography, each version of the Wizarding World is slightly different, as proven by two massive openings over in Osaka this week.Credit: Universal Studios JapanTwo More Attractions Open at the Wizarding World of Harry PotterUniversal Studios Japan reopened two magical Harry Potter experiences this week.As of March 20, guests can once again enjoy Meet the Hogsmeade Magical Creatures and Hippogriff Magical Lesson.Meet the Hogsmeade Magical Creatures and Hippogriff Magical Lesson were originally introduced at Universal Studios Japan as part of a broader “Magical Creatures Encounter” offering. These experiences allow guests to interact with creatures like a Hippogriff, Niffler, and baby dragon – something that had not previously been available at other Universal parks.Credit: Universal Studios JapanWhile both were temporarily closed for two months during Osaka’s colder spells, they have now reopened to all guests.“The vibrant village of Hogsmeade has recently become even livelier. Why? Because of the little magical creatures appear here and there!” says Universal. “The one rummaging through the mail in the cart in front of the Owl Post is a ‘Niffler’ that loves shiny, sparkling treasures. In the plaza next to Hogsmeade station a creature trader is secretly carrying a ‘baby dragon’ just hatched from an egg. Mewing in front of Zonko’s ‘mischief store’ is… Fluffy pink Pygmy Puffs! All of them are smart and cute, but be careful, as they can be unpredictable. Listen carefully to the wizards and take pictures with them.”At one point, guests feared that the Harry Potter offerings were permanently closed. However, Universal seems to have shifted both to seasonal operations.More ‘Harry Potter’ Attractions on the WayThe coming years will see even more Harry Potter attractions join this growing lineup. While Universal United Kingdom Resort was initially announced with concept art that conspicuously omitted JK Rowling’s magical creation, it has since been reported that Harry Potter will, in fact, factor into the park’s attractions.Credit: UniversalFurther afield, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi – which sits near the planned Yas Island site for Disneyland Abu Dhabi – recently started work on its long-awaited Harry Potter expansion. The exact timelines for both developments are unclear. However, with HBO’s Harry Potter reboot set to hit the small screen in 2027, it’s safe to say that we’ll already be deep into a new era of Harry Potter when they finally open to Potterheads.Have you ever experienced Meet the Hogsmeade Magical Creatures or Hippogriff Magical Lesson? The post TWO More ‘Harry Potter’ Attractions Now Open at Universal Studios Theme Park appeared first on Inside the Magic.
