View this post on Instagram Additionally, the shirt itself takes inspiration from Montevideo’s Art Deco architecture and the Estadio Centenario.Egypt star controversyEgypt had hoped to release a kit that featured seven stars for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.However, the Pharaohs were made to remove all seven stars, which represented their Africa Cup of Nations wins.Egypt are the most successful nation in the competition’s history but were unable to add to their impressive haul in the 2025 edition.Senegal beat Morocco in the AFCON final earlier this year but have since been stripped of their title after an astonishing decision was made by the CAF.When Egypt are playing in non-FIFA regulated games, they are allowed to display the seven stars above the badge.In the World Cup this summer, though, their kit won’t feature any stars as the African nation haven’t won football’s showpiece event in their history.Egypt have been drawn alongside Belgium, New Zealand and Iran in Group G this summer, though the latter’s participation is currently in doubt owing to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
