Donald Trump’s bold disregard for the Constitution in his ongoing second term only proves that he genuinely believes the MAGA movement will follow him anywhere, even off a cliff if necessary. But as his war against Iran drags past the three-week mark, even the reddest of red America is starting to ask questions. The call to end the war against Iran is being picked up all over the political spectrum. According to a new report by The Guardian, the Republican-leaning state of Kentucky is rethinking its voting pattern. “This war, with no congressional approval, is a slap in the face of rural Kentuckians and my neighbors,” said McKenna Brashear, the acting president of the Perry County Young Democrats. She also criticized the Trump admin for cutting Medicare and not doing anything for rising utility prices. “There are so many things that that money could be better allocated for, especially after all the cuts that have been made, it’s really difficult to kind of swallow that pill.” Rand Paul, a Kentucky senator and member of the GOP, recently blasted the Trump admin for high oil and gas prices, while Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky also believes the only thing the war will achieve is “radicalize a new generation of terrorists.” That’s not all. When Trump declared “we’ve won” at a rally in the commonwealth’s 4th District, the audience, many of whom were wearing MAGA hats, went conspicuously silent. That silence spoke louder than any chant or opposition force. The broader polling picture isn’t much better. A recent Ipsos (via CNN) survey found that 43% Americans disapprove of the U.S. strikes on Iran, and only 29% are in favor. A war with no clear end goal As for how the war itself is going, Trump has gone from threatening the country’s NATO allies to pleading with them for help to threatening them again, all the while the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and the two sides continue to exchange fire. In yet another dangerous escalation, Israel recently attacked Iran’s South Pars gas field, prompting the IRGC to launch devastating missile barrages at Qatar’s LNG facilities, wiping out a whopping 17% capacity from the world’s largest gas supplier. Iran also damaged Saudi Arabia’s SAMREF refinery and the oil refinery complex at Haifa in Israel. Trump says he had nothing to do with the attack on South Pars; the intelligence community and media outlets say otherwise.
