In 2008, Disney released a new Disney Channel Original Movie about kids attending a summer music camp. The music was catchy, the story was fun, and it gave dedicated fans a High School Musical vibe. The film starred unknown actress Demi Lovato as Mitchie Torres, an incredibly talented singer who is battling stage fright. The film launched Demi Lovato into superstardom and made fans fall more in love with her costars, the incredibly popular Jonas Brothers.The film was a huge hit, and two years later, Lovato, the Jonas Brothers, and many of the stars from the first film returned for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. With their original opener dropping out at the last minute, the group launches a talent search at their former summer stomping grounds, introducing a new generation of campers eager to prove themselves.Disney also confirmed that the Jonas Brothers would return to star in the film, but Demi Lovato would not return as Mitchie. News, Alyson Stoner — who played Mitchie’s closest camp friend, Caitlyn — was not informed that a third film was even in consideration. Despite being left out, they maintain a positive attitude and hope the film turns out great.“I haven’t heard anything beyond that,” Alyson exclusively told E! News Sept. 20—three days after the film was announced—during a panel at the 2025 Teen Vogue Summit, “but that sounds exciting.”“I’m guessing it’ll be maybe similar to what they did with High School Musical, where maybe they introduce a new generation,” the Cheaper by the Dozen alum said. “That’s what I’m assuming. But cool.
