Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami claimed on Tuesday that the introduction of the E-pass system in the Nilgiris to limit vehicle numbers was a result of the DMK government’s failure to present a strong case in the High Court.Mr. Palaniswami, addressing a public meeting in the Nilgiris as part of his ongoing State-wide roadshow, said the restrictions on the number of vehicles had affected the livelihood of farmers, traders and businesses who depended on the income made from tourism during the summer months. When the AIADMK returns to power, it will place before the court the problems faced by people and find a solution. He also alleged that DMK members were involved in drug trafficking in the State and said people in the hills were finding it difficult to build houses due to permissions not being granted.Published - September 23, 2025 09:25 pm IST
