Tennis star Lorenzo Musetti broke down in tears after losing his fifth consecutive final at the Chengdu Open on Tuesday.The Italian, who was the top seed when the tournament began, saw his hopes of winning in China dashed by 112th-ranked Chilean Alejandro Tabilo.Musetti was tearful after his fifth consecutive final defeatTo make matters worse, Musetti squandered two match points before slipping to defeat.In the final set, Musetti was 4-1 up in the tie break before Tabilo fought back to level at 4-4.But the Chilean powered through to win the match against an emotional Musetti.Following the defeat, the 23-year-old broke down in tears with his head buried into his towel.The statistics simply didn’t add up. Musetti hit more winners than his opponent and had less unforced errors.It appeared that Musetti had overcome his recent difficulties which had seen him defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals before picking up an injury that affected his form.But his obstacle in getting over the line was laid bare once again having lost his previous four finals.Tabilo’s 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(5) victory was enough for the Chilean to claim a third ATP tour title and his first of the season.“It was an amazing match,” said Tabilo“I just had to stay there mentally and physically. I was so happy to make those first serves on match points. It was an incredible effort from the team also.
