(Credit: Instagram/@ajithkumarracing)After many successful years in Tamil cinema, actor Ajith Kumar is currently busy writing his next chapter in the world of motorsport. His team is already making strides and emerging with flying colours in most of the series they’re participating in. Given the amount of risk involved in the sport, crashes on the circuit aren’t new for those involved or fans worldwide. However, for Ajith’s admirers, most of whom aren’t familiar with motorsport, the recent mishaps he faced sent chills down their spines. Many even suggested that he should give up racing and return to movies completely. The actor himself recently opened up about the risks involved in motorsport, emphasising why people should look beyond the accidents. Pointing out that most of the injuries he faced over the years occurred during movie productions, Ajith stated that if such incidents didn’t pull him back from taking risks, the mishaps on the circuits won’t either. Also Read | Yash Chopra cried in front of Shah Rukh Khan before his final shot; saved Amitabh Bachchan’s career twice but paid him Re 1 for comeback“As a driver, you don’t realise the speed at which you’re going until you go off the circuit or you have a bad crash. Otherwise, you’re so busy, focused on picking your breaking points and your mark. There are so many things happening in the car, talking to your team, race engineer etc,” he shared during an interview with India Today.Mentioning that returning to racing created a mix of emotions in him, the actor recalled feeling overwhelmed, intimidated, scared, and excited simultaneously. While talking about his crash ahead of the Dubai 24H race, Ajith said, “Since then, I see a lot of people commenting on the crashes I had. But ask any team or driver, and they will attest that crashes are a part of motorsports. It’s scary, yes. But then you have to understand that these cars are built for that purpose. The driver’s safety is of primary importance when they design a car. It’s very rare that you have a fatality. However, when you’re pushing the limits of the car and yourself, accidents and crashes are bound to happen.”Despite this, the crashes haven’t affected his spirits. “Look at films. All my injuries and all the surgeries I underwent due to various injuries happened during film shoots. They occurred while I was performing my stunts. They didn’t deter me. Nor did fans tell me, ‘Oh, you’re getting hurt. Please don’t do films.’ So why would it deter me from motorsports?”Ajith Kumar had two movie releases earlier this year. While director Magizh Thirumeni’s Vidaamuyarchi underperformed at the box office, Adhik Ravichandran’s Good Bad Ugly fared far better.Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd
