(File photo)Three workers were injured after a fire broke out at a sodium chloride packaging company in Ambadvet in Mulshi taluka of Pune district on Sunday afternoon.The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, officials said, adding that two of the injured suffered 60 per cent burns.Senior police inspector Santosh Girigosavi of the Paud Police Station, Pune rural, said that fire was reported at the Swaraj Enterprises in Ambadvet around 12.15 pm when packaging of sodium chloride was being done.Police and Fire Brigade teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the fire.Police have identified the injured persons as Sandip Lakshman Shendkar (49), Mohit Raj Choudhary (49) and Renuka Dhanraj Gaikwad (40).Police said three were working at the company when the fire started. The victims Sandip Shendkar and Mohit Choudhary received about 60 per cent burns, while Renuka Gaikwad suffered ten per cent burns.All the three were admitted to a private hospital at Ghotawade Phata.Story continues below this adVijay Maharaj, Fire officer of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) said, “The exact cause of fire is not known. But it is learnt that the power supply was unstable when the incident took place. So we suspect that a short circuit may have caused the fire.”“There were about 150 drums filled with chemicals, along with other material, at the company. All the drums had blasted during the fire. Our team doused the fire and brought the situation under control,” said Mahajan.
