Jonjo Shelvey has completed a surprise switch to the United Arab Emirates’ third tier.The midfielder has joined Dubai-based Arabian Falcons, who are managed by fellow Englishman Harry Agombar.instagram / @arabianfalconsfcaeShelvey has signed with third tier Emirati side Arabian Falcons[/caption]Shelvey made his debut for his new side on Saturday in their first match of the new league season.It was his first competitive appearance since starting for Burnley against Preston in the FA Cup fifth round back in March.He even played a key role in one of their goals as they played out a 3-3 draw with Baynounah.The 33-year-old’s deep corner was turned into the back of the net after a team-mate headed it back across the penalty area.Arabian Falcons were only founded in 2023 before earning promotion from the fourth tier in their debut campaign.Shelvey has been handed the number 53 shirt at his new club this season.It is the third different side he has played for already in 2025 after spells in both Turkey and England.What has Shelvey played for in 2025?The former England international began the year in the former with Eyupspor.However, despite only joining the club last summer he departed on a free transfer in January.Shelvey subsequently signed for Burnley on a deal until the end of the season.The midfielder had been a free agent after leaving Burnley at the end of JuneGettyHe went on to make four appearances for the Clarets as they secured promotion to the Premier League.Only two of those came in the league, though, with Shelvey limited to 11 minutes of Championship action.Scott Parker’s side opted against offering him a new deal and he left Turf Moor when his contract expired at the end of June.As well as winning six caps for the Three Lions, Shelvey has also starred in the Premier League for four different clubs.During his career, he has made 278 top flight appearances for Newcastle, Swansea, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.Across those matches, Shelvey has also scored 23 goals and provided 27 assists.instagram / @arabianfalconsfcaeShelvey made his debut for Arabian Falcons in a 3-3 draw on Saturday[/caption]
