(Express Photo)A resounding call for heart health echoed through Mohali on Sunday as more than 550 citizens participated in a World Heart Day Walkathon in Sector 71. The event was organised by Livasa Hospitals in collaboration with The Heart Foundation, highlighting the growing awareness around preventive lifestyle practices.“Heart health should never be taken for granted. Regular physical activity, awareness, and timely check-ups can save countless lives. This walkathon is a strong reminder that prevention is the key to a healthier tomorrow,” said Dr H K Bali, chairman of The Heart Foundation and head of Cardiac Sciences at Livasa Hospitals.Chief guest Lt Gen (Retd) K J S (Tiny) Dhillon motivated the crowd, remarking, “Taking care of our health is as important as serving the nation — both require discipline, consistency, and commitment. It is heartening to see so many people walking together for the cause of heart health.”Dr Bali noted, “This impressive turnout is not just about numbers — it reflects a positive shift in society’s mindset. People are beginning to understand that prevention through fitness, diet, and awareness is the strongest safeguard against heart disease.”The walkathon was graced by several dignitaries, including Anurag Yadav, CEO of Livasa Hospitals; Sanjiv Kalra, DGP Home Guards, Punjab; Vivek Atray, ex-IAS; Sirivennela, SP (City) Mohali; Srishti Gupta, DCP Panchkula; M S Malik, ex-DGP Haryana; and Agam Singh Bedi, Deputy Director of Income Tax (Investigation), Mohali.“This overwhelming participation reflects the collective spirit of Mohali towards adopting healthier lifestyles.
