New footage has shown just how out of control American fans were during a humiliating Saturday at the Ryder Cup.Team USA suffered embarrassment in New York losing six of a possible eight match ups to give Team Europe a near-insurmountable lead away from home.A beer was seen thrown towards McIlroy and his wifeMovistar+Stoll turned around stunned by the behaviour of her fellow AmericansMovistar+Amid all the storylines including a stunning headloss from Bryson DeChambeau, things got nasty in the evening four-balls.Masters winner Rory McIlroy had already been the target of abuse during his morning foursome win alongside Tommy Fleetwood, but later on in the day it took a dark turn.He and Shane Lowry were constant victims of abuse, and now footage has shown things getting more physical than first thought.In the clip from Spanish broadcasters Movistar, a beer can be seen being thrown through the air towards the Northern Irishman.His wife, Erica Stoll turns in the direction of the fans in sheer shock, and McIlroy turns and steps towards the rowdy group as an arm is placed across his chest to calm him down.There were similar scenes with playing partner Lowry, who turned and moved towards an abusive fan only to be stopped by a staff member.The Irishman was attacked with abuse about his weight, while McIlroy had to deal with songs about his wife.Stoll, who is American, was following her husband’s round, but eventually left the Bethpage course due to the abuse.She later appeared at the 18th to celebrate McIlroy and Lowry downing Justin Thomas and Cameron Young to help Europe on their way to a commanding 12-5 lead.Some reports claimed Stoll could be seen with ‘tears streaming down her face’.View Tweet: https://twitter.com/MovistarGolf?ref_src=twsrc%5EtfwMcIlroy fumed as he tried to find the culpritMovistar+It wasn’t long before Stoll left the courseMovistar+Americans out of control at the Ryder CupThe abuse directed at McIlroy regularly overstepped the mark with an embarrassed Thomas having to plead with his countrymen to keep the noise down during his friend’s shots.It was to no avail, however, and McIlroy instead dealt with matters in his own way, telling those around him to ‘shut the f*** up’ and later belting out a series of ‘f*** you’ screams after putting.The 36-year-old later attempted to negotiate some form of peace, saying he didn’t mind the abuse, as long as it wasn’t on his swing.“I don’t mind the fans having a go at us that’s to be expected, that’s what a Ryder Cup is,” he said.“But whenever they’re still doing it when you’re over the ball taking your shot that’s the tough thing.“In between shots say whatever you want to me, but give us the respect and let us hit shots.”McIlroy and Lowry had the last laugh on Saturday but things still overstepped the markGettyRyder Cup legend Ian Poulter was far less forgiving on the home support though.“NY was always going to be an intense battle,” he wrote.“My hope would have been for this to have been played out without some altercations and just pure passion from the crowd.“It’s spilled over and now has become ugly and this is not a good look for golf.“This unfortunately was always going to happen.
