Even as they knew that the three-month extension given to the firm is set to expire on September 30, the municipal corporation floated tenders late, it seems.The firm takes Rs 5.10 crore a month for the GIS-based mechanised sweeping in the southern belt.An agenda item in this regard will be placed before the General House meeting scheduled for Tuesday.A supplementary agenda item regarding the tender document for GIS-based mechanised and manual sweeping of southern sectors of Chandigarh was placed before the General House on June 3, 2025.The discussions were held and it was decided to defer the agenda for the next House meeting. Subsequently. in the next meeting, the General House meeting considered and approved constitution of a committee consisting of two members from each party, including two nominated members and the chairman of the sanitation committee as a special invitee to discuss the agenda and submit its recommendations.In the said meeting, the General House also granted approval for the extension of the existing contract with M/s Lion Services Ltd for further period of three months (01.07.2025 to 30.09.2025) or till the allotment of the new tender, whichever is earlier, on existing terms and conditions along with the advance payment of wages to the workforce engaged under the contract.Thereafter, an agenda consisting of recommendations of the committee was placed before the General House in its 352 meeting held on August 26 which was approved by the General House in its said meeting.
