One of the two doctors is a former director of AIIMS-Rishikesh. CBI registered an FIR on September 26 against ex-director Ravi Kant, Rajesh Pasricha (currently professor with AIIMS Bhopal) and former store keeper-cum-clerk Roop Singh.The CBI took approval from the Union Health Ministry before booking Kant – a Padma Shri awardee in 2016 – under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Permission of the AIIMS President was taken before booking Pasricha. CBI’s anti-corruption branch and AIIMS officers conducted a joint surprise check (JSC) at the AIIMS department of cardiology on March 26 after irregularities in the establishment of Coronary Care Unit were flagged.In the FIR, the CBI said that a payment of Rs 8.08 crore was released to the contractor/supplier of a Delhi-based company on November 1, 2019 and January 13, 2020 by the AIIMS, Rishikesh against “contingent bill no 1 and 2”.
