Another member of the Senate Dr Ramesh Gaikwad has introduced a proposal for starting research grants for short-term and long-term projects and seminars, which will be beneficial to professors, colleges, and the university’s rankings.The drop in NIRF rankings from 37 in 2024 to 91 in 2025 has prompted multiple proposals from various members. Dr Yogesh Bhole has proposed that to prevent the decline in the NIRF Ranking of the university, an NIRF Monitoring Dashboard should be developed for every department. Goals would be set through this dashboard enabling them to take corrective measures. Another motion by Dadabhau Shinalkar called for a special meeting of the Senate, Management Council members, and Academic Council members on the NIRF rankings.Dr. Chintaman Nigale has introduced a motion highlighting that the administrative work at the Nashik Sub-Centre of the university was being carried out in a rented building. He proposed that this work should be shifted to the new building of the Nashik Sub-Centre. Member Advait Bamboli introduced a motion to begin a Master in Fine Arts course at the university keeping in mind the needs of the society.Another proposal introduced by Bhole proposes the setting up of a Scientific Research Standards Inspection Committee to evaluate the quantity, quality and impact of research work in the science field in the last 5 years. The committee would have prominent and active participation from the Library and Information Science department. The number and quality of research publications, citations, h-index, patents, industry collaborations, external funding, and comparison with other universities would be evaluated.Soham is a Correspondent with the Indian Express in Pune.
