The agency has arrested four persons in connection with these seizures.According to Customs officials, based on a tip-off, several teams were formed to keep close watch on the passengers arriving from a flight from Nairobi to Mumbai.In the first operation, one team intercepted a man arriving from Nairobi and found four gold melted bars weighing 930 g concealed inside his clothes. The passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.Another team nabbed a passenger after the agency recovered two melted gold weights of 142 grams valued at Rs. 12.97 lakh.While in the third operation the official arrested a passenger coming from the same flight who was carrying four gold melted bars weighing 742 g and worth Rs 71 lakh.In the fourth and fifth operations, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) teams separately arrested two passengers with gold worth 45 lakh and 47 lakh, respectively.Sixth team of the AIU nabbed a passenger while he was heading towards immigration check and during search, gold worth Rs 1.15 crore was seized from his possession. He concealed gold melted bars in his undergarments.Story continues below this adOn Tuesday, the AIU team kept a close watch based on the specific intelligence and arrested a passenger arriving from Bangkok.
