By: Express News ServiceMumbai | September 30, 2025 11:20 PM IST 2 min readThe court was informed by a government lawyer that 40 % of schools in Maharashtra uploaded the data after which the court asked all schools to submit their information to the concerned department (Archive)The Bombay High Court on Tuesday directed the state School Education Department to make available details pertaining to compliance by schools in Maharashtra on directions issued in Government Resolution (GR) for safety of school students on its website for the public at large by October 9.The court was informed by a government lawyer that 40 % of schools in Maharashtra uploaded the data after which the court asked all schools to submit their information to the concerned department to get it uploaded in an expeditious manner.A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Sandesh D Patil were hearing a suo motu plea initiated by it taking cognisance of news reports of the alleged sexual assault of two four-year-old children by a cleaning staff member at a school in Thane district’s Badlapur.The Court, on September 19 had raised concerns over lack of implementation of GR on safety measures for school children in Maharashtra after it noted 70% government schools lacked CCTVs and steps for security of students during transportation were not taken in 72% of such schools.The HC last week also directed the state Education Department to create a website where information related to CCTV facilities, safety measures for transportation, complaint boxes, character verification of teachers among others for all government, aided/unaided and private schools are uploaded along with a checklist for compliance by schools.The HC had said it will enable the officers concerned to take appropriate steps in the event GR has not been complied with.On Tuesday, Additional Public Prosecutor Prajakta Shinde informed the HC that such information was being uploaded on the web portal and a link for the same was created on September 24 and 40 % of the schools have uploaded their details. When the state government lawyer said the same is yet to be accessible to the public at large, the HC asked the government to do so by October 9.Story continues below this adThe government also said that the Women and Child Department and Tribal department has also adopted the GR and steps will be taken to make details for residential schools, children homes, ashram shalas etc available.
