It appears that Sony is working on an updated PlayStation 5 controller with a removable battery pack, similar to those available for Xbox controllers, according to a new report by the German gaming outlet PPE.pl.As spotted by VGC, PPE.pl is reporting that this PS5 controller--reportedly known internally as the DualSense V3--is slated to arrive this November with a removable battery pack. Specifics were sparse, but according to PPE.pl's source--someone named Graczdari, who correctly predicted Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024's PS5 reveal and uncovered the boxed version of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered--it seems the DualSense V3 will allow you to replace the battery pack if necessary, instead of you having to buy a whole new controller whenever it dies for good.If it launches this November as suggested, the DualSense V3 will reportedly replace the current PS5 controllers on retail shelves. The report mentions that Sony is also working on a slight revision to the PlayStation 5 Pro that will use 3% less power than the standard one and comes with the DualSense V3 controller. It's unclear if this revised PS5 Pro console will drop in November.PPE.pl has reported accurately in the past. This includes stories about Dying Light's Nintendo Switch port (which did launch in October 2021, like the site discovered), and the revelation that physical discs for Doom: The Dark Ages don't contain the actual game.Sony had its massive State of Play livestream on September 24, and we learned a ton of stuff about a ton of games. We learned Team Ninja's Nioh 3 comes out in February 2026, Housemarque's Saros and Pearl Abyss' Crimson Desert both land in March 2026, Deus Ex is getting a remaster, Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine is slated for next fall, and so much more. Next year is looking good.
