A new trailer has landed for Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, and it marks a first for the animated anthology. After two volumes of stand-alone stories, the series is finally revisiting old ground. Three of the nine episodes will be sequels to earlier tales, building continuity into a project that began as an experiment in one-off storytelling.Watch the first official trailer for Volume 3 below:Related: Fan-Favorite Jedi Joins Huge Ensemble in New ‘Star Wars’ Series“The Duel: Payback” returns to the wandering Ronin who first appeared in the Kurosawa-inspired “The Duel”, an episode that helped define the look and tone of Visions when it debuted in 2021. “The Lost Ones” goes back to “The Village Bride”, continuing the story of the bride who made a sacrifice for her people and the Jedi who intervened. Finally, “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” revisits Kara, the young protagonist introduced in “The Ninth Jedi,” picking up threads from one of the anthology’s most expansive entries.Credit: LucasfilmThe decision to revisit these characters is a milestone. Visions began as a self-contained showcase for international animation studios, with each installment telling its own story, separate from Star Wars canon. Volume 1 featured nine episodes from seven Japanese studios. Volume 2, released on May 4, 2023, expanded the scope with nine new stories from global creators. Neither contained follow-ups.Now, Volume 3 will weave ongoing threads into the anthology, creating continuity for the first time. It suggests that some of these original characters are being positioned as part of a longer-term vision. That direction is underscored by Star Wars: Visions Presents, a spin-off announced earlier this year. The first installment will be a full series based on The Ninth Jedi, scheduled to arrive sometime in 2026.All nine episodes of Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 will premiere on Disney+ October 29, giving fans the first anthology sequels in the franchise’s history. Are you excited about Star Wars: Visions Volume 3?
