Three youths were killed after a two-wheeler they were travelling hit a lorry near Chengam town in Tiruvannamalai on Thursday.The deceased were identified as R. Lokeshwaran, 21, A. Kumar, 28, and V. Muthukumar, 23. They are neighbours in Uchimalai Kuppam village near Chengam. Except Lokeshwaran, who is a college student, two others were working as drivers.Initial inquiry revealed that the trio were travelling on a two-wheeler in Cuddalore-Chittoor Highway to Tiruvannamalai town. Kumar, who was riding the vehicle, suddenly lost control and hit a lorry, which was coming from the opposite direction. The lorry was proceeding towards Krishnagiri from Tiruvannamalai town.In the impact, all three were thrown-off the two-wheeler. Lokeshwaran died on the spot while the other two were badly injured. Immediately, passersby and other motorists rescued the injured persons and admitted them to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai town, where doctors declared Kumar as brought dead. Later, Muthukumar also succumbed to injuries at the hospital. A case was registered by Pachal police and further probe is underway.Published - September 26, 2025 05:45 am IST
