Kampala, Uganda – The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) has issued a public notice announcing the return of residual land titles to affected persons along the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway, starting October 1, 2025. This follows a similar exercise for the Mukono-Katosi/Kisoga Nyenga and Kampala Northern Bypass projects, addressing long-standing delays for property owners. The initiative invites affected individuals whose titles remain under MoWT custody—originally managed by the former Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA)—to report to field offices at Kyambogo (opposite the former Face Technologies Ltd) from October 1 to October 3, 2025, during official working hours. Applicants must bring their National Identification Card and a passport photograph, with MoWT also checking the status of ongoing subdivisions.Permanent Secretary Bageya Waiswa emphasized that the programme will extend to other completed road projects nationwide, with further communications detailing schedules for additional corridors. “We sincerely apologise for the delay and any inconvenience caused to land owners and appreciate your cooperation in concluding this long-overdue exercise,” Waiswa stated. The move comes as a relief to many whose properties were impacted by infrastructure developments, though Watchdog Uganda notes concerns over the prolonged wait. The ministry’s effort to streamline title returns is seen as a step toward restoring confidence, but questions linger about the process’s transparency and efficiency. This exercise follows years of land acquisition disputes linked to major road projects. Affected persons are urged to verify their titles promptly to avoid further delays. MoWT has not disclosed the total number of titles to be returned, fueling calls for clearer data.As Uganda’s infrastructure expands, the return of land titles is critical for affected communities to reclaim their rights. Watchdog Uganda will monitor the process, ensuring accountability and timely execution. For updates, affected persons can contact MoWT via Tel: +256-414-235730 or email: mowt@works.go.ug, or follow the ministry’s social media channels. This development underscores the government’s commitment to resolving land issues, though stakeholders await full implementation details. The post Works Ministry Announces Return of Land Titles Along Entebbe Expressway to Owners appeared first on Watchdog Uganda.
