Marc Guehi is “class act” and ‘expected’ to join Liverpool – the Crystal Palace view

Wait 5 sec.

It’s a case of the “best attack vs. the best defence in the Premier League” this weekend, as Liverpool head to Crystal Palace. The Reds face one of their toughest games of the season to date on Saturday afternoon, making the trip to Selhurst Park.Palace beat Liverpool in the Community Shield last month and haven’t lost in 17 matches, so victory for Arne Slot‘s champions would feel significant. With matchday looming, we spoke to Eagles fan Robbie Scotcher (@RobbieScotcher) to discuss a big game, Marc Guehi’s future and lots more. How happy are you with Palace’s start to the season?Starting the season with a trophy was a first.I know it was only the Community Shield, but it just felt like another reason to celebrate the FA Cup win and a great day out.Crystal Palace have not lost yet and have conceded just two goals in five games. We’ve knocked Millwall out of a cup, too, so it really is a great time to be a Palace fan. Who has stood out most?Oliver Glasner’s system means everyone must be dialled in for it to work. So that is the star at present. With Eberechi Eze leaving, we have lost that bit of magic and we’re not creating as many chances. But the whole defence has been exceptional, while Adam Wharton can see things no one else can.I think Daichi Kamada has really stepped up and found his feet in this league. He has become very reliable. What’s the main aim for this season?A top-half finish and to go as deep as we can in Europa Conference League. I’m really looking forward to watching us in Europe.Retaining the FA Cup would be a dream come true. How has Marc Guehi performed and will he join Liverpool eventually?Marc Guehi has been exceptional. He’s a class act. I really felt for him because he deserves a big move. He’s got his head screwed on, and although he never pushed for a move, he obviously saw Liverpool as a club where he would thrive, having an opportunity to compete at the very highest level.Other clubs will come in, but there are only a few that would rival Liverpool, and he won’t have his head swayed easily.I expect him to be a Reds player at the start of next season. How do you rate Liverpool’s start to the season? The squad is ridiculous. Liverpool are the best team in the country and possibly the world. Players are still settling in and finding their feet, and you haven’t lost yet.You can’t win every match in the last minute and there are chinks in the armour, but I can’t see anyone else winning the league. Where will the key battles take place on Saturday?I can’t wait for this match. I love when you guys come to Palace – it’s always a great atmosphere.Your biggest battle will be with Southern Rail!As for the game, we’re looking at the best attack vs. the best defence in the Premier League right now, so that will be fascinating. There are no secrets to how we’ll play or what we’ll try and do, and we’ll need some big performances from Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta.Stopping Alexander Isak scoring his first goal in the Premier League for Liverpool has to be a priority. Finally, what is your score prediction?I’m not going to say we’ll lose, so I’m going for a hopeful 2-1 win for us.
