The Centre will borrow ₹6.77 lakh crore through dated securities in the second half of FY26, lowering the full-year borrowing target to ₹14.72 lakh crore from the budgeted ₹14.82 lakh crore. Officials said the plan balances fiscal discipline with market stability amid higher defence spending needs. Borrowing will include ₹10,000 crore via green bonds and conclude by March 6, 2026.
