A September 26 notification by the Ministry of Law and Justice said that the President is pleased to re-appoint Venkataramani as AG for a further period of two years, with effect from October 1, 2026.He was first appointed AG for three years in October 2022 and his tenure would expire on September 30. He succeeded Senior Advocate K K Venugopal in the high office. Venkataramani enrolled as a lawyer in July 1977 in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu.He shifted practice to the Supreme Court in 1979, where he was designated as Senior Advocate in 1997. In 2010, he was appointed as a Member of the Law Commission, and re-appointed for a further term in 2013.
