The awards for the best films and short films in the festival were announced during the closing ceremony.During the ceremony, ‘Unmey’ was declared the Best Short Film and ‘Operation Ma’ was named the Best Documentary. The short film ‘Nirop’ was also recognised as the Best Marathi Short Film.Renowned actor and director Girish Kulkarni, in his address at the award ceremony on Sunday, spoke about technology eclipsing human thought in the current era“Technology is presenting many things more effectively. This raises a question about our expression: ‘What should we do?’ Due to the explosion of technology and media, we have started acting and speaking alike. Consequently, our experiences lack a distinct quality, and new creations are not happening,” he said.Girish Kulkarni further added, “Our education system did not teach us about human emotions. The communication of emotions has been taught only by cinema. This is why this medium is important.”Dheeraj Singh, director of FTII, said, “Initiatives like the Mumba Film Festival are useful for the new generation entering this field.
